There are thousands upon thousands of groups who can sing and dance. Yet. this unique group of Taiwanese performers couldn’t me more special. They do not fear tiring out, nor do they fear the spotlight. Instead, they fear an unenthusiastic audience! This is a truly “electronic” dance group, performers that fuse Taiwanese folk culture with the wonders of technological innovation – the Robot Princes!
The tale of the Robot Princes begins with the fusing of two distinct stories:
The first lies among Taiwan’s temple festivities, where the performance of “Da Xian Weng Zai” is a classic. After fusing these traditions with electronic music, the “Techno-Dancing Third Prince” came into existence. As the performance became one of Taiwan’s most unique and world-renowned, it has become a creation that all of Taiwan can be proud of – not just their creators.
The second appears elsewhere in Taiwan, where Mr. Liu, a.k.a King Kong, leads journeys in the remote regions of the countryside. Here they introduce programming, electric circuits, and mechanical skills to disadvantaged children, utilizing robotics as a way to expand their imagination. Robots are not simply lifeless figurines, but the ones opening a door to these children’s future.
The Story House discovered these one-of-a-kind elements from Taiwan and Taiwanese culture, and melded them together. When the Third Prince meets the limitless capabilities of robotics, The Robot Princes were born! Bringing together Taiwanese temple traditions and modern trends creates an awe-inspiring and entertaining performance filled with innovative ideas!
